The Original Open Market Inc. is often
quoted as the best market south of Adelaide, with the toughest rules.
The rules are possibly the reason they say it is the best!
The Original Open Market is held on a City
of Onkaparinga Reserve; that is why the very rigid rules apply, compared to most
other markets.
Therefore, your strict compliance with our mandate will
ensure the continued support of this Original Open Market.
The Market
operates with agreement from the City of Onkaparinga, under strict
Development Plan criteria. With the combination of the Development Plan
rules and the Original Open Market Inc. rules, the result is a tightly
controlled, friendly venue.
This is not a car boot sale,
therefore a stall must be maintained alongside the vehicle.
Selling
is permitted from the stall side of a trailer only, provided a minimum
three-metre stall is maintained.
A two metre
emergency walkway is mandatory and must be maintained between
stalls.
Handcraft
stalls must display a prominent notice stating, "HOME MADE HOBBY
CRAFT".
No gambling,
lotteries, raffles, bingo etc. free or otherwise are permitted.
No commercial
trading is allowed.
This includes shopkeepers, wholesalers and
suppliers to or from retail or wholesale outlets, new packaged auction
goods and factory rejects.
Only home grown plants and produce, arts
and crafts and pre-used items are permitted.
The Conditions
of Admission are:
All persons entering the market area must agree to abide by the following
conditions:

It is unconditionally accepted that the Original Open Market
Committee will not be liable for any personal injury to, or any loss or
damage incurred by, any person entering the market, whether caused by
any neglect, act, or default of any servant or any agent of the Original
Open Market Committee or caused by the negligence or omission of any
stallholder.

The Original Open Market Committee accepts no responsibility for
any transactions taking place within the market, nor requires any
commission.

The Original Open Market Committee reserves the right at all
times to eject, or cause to be ejected from the site, any persons and
their chattels and refuse admission, and/or ban from future attendance
to the market, anyone, without giving any reason
whatsoever.

Stallholders must pre-purchase a ticket for the site from the
Ticket Officer and tickets must be produced on demand by a committee
member. Tickets are non-negotiable and non refundable.

Stall length will be to a maximum of the length of the car and
trailer.

Selling from the stall side of trailers
only, provided a minimum three-metre stall be maintained.

maintained between stalls.

No amplifying equipment shall be used at the
market.

No domestic pets may be offered for sale.

Barbecues, drink stalls and food, including home made foods are
strictly forbidden.

Handcraft stalls must display a prominent notice stating, "HOME
MADE HOBBY CRAFT".

New items or packaged pre-used items or quantities of same type
of single items, new, pre-used, or from auctions, are forbidden

Quantities of collectable items must be removed from
boxes and marked second-hand. (eg matchbox
cars)

All wrapped second-hand goods must be marked
second-hand.

Dogs must be restrained at all times
- preferably not brought to the market.

Toilet facilities are available on request from Committee. A $5
key deposit is required and the key must be returned promptly after use
or your deposit could be forfeited.

No gambling, lotteries,
raffles, bingo, lucky dips etc. free or otherwise

Stallholders must completely clear and clean site before
leaving. Cardboard cartons must be crushed to fit into the bins
provided, otherwise the carton must be taken home with you. Do not leave
rubbish alongside bins.

Refrain from depositing surplus items at any charity except when
that charity is open for business.
-
Motor Vehicles are not permitted for sale - any "for sale" sign
must be removed from vehicle.
-
Cots, Bassinettes, and car baby seats, are forbidden unless complying
with Australian Safety Standards.

A receipt must be given for car parts, computers and components, and
play stations that are sold.

Skin products, or
products that may be used on the skin, are not permitted.
-
No
vehicles to enter market reserve except under control of Committee
members who shall be set up prior to market for administrative and
control
purposes.
People collecting goods in a vehicle must contact committee
first

The number of stalls shall not exceed 100.
-
The market days shall be held on the first and third
Sunday of each month and the market shall operate between the hours of
9.00 am to 2.00 pm.

Stallholders shall be pre-issued with an allocated
stall prior to the market day.

No commercially grown or manufactured items shall be
displayed or offered for sale at any time at the market.

A stall will consist of no more than one trestle or
similar and shall be no longer than 5m and no wider than 1.5m.The site
shall be kept in a neat and tidy manner at all times.

Stalls shall not be sited on the land until 9.00 am,
with the exception that members of the Committee may site their own
stalls after 8.00 am so as to facilitate the organization of the market,
but on the condition that no stalls trade prior to 9.00 am.

Buskers
are not permitted.
