Regardless of the weather forecast, a decision to cancel a market because of inclement weather can not be made until 9.00 am on the morning of the market. Even if it is raining at 8.45 am that decision still can not be made because it could, and often does, clear up by 9.00 am. No one can give you a decision if you ring on Friday or Saturday. If a market is cancelled because of bad weather, a special market is held the following Sunday (subject to the reserve being available for us) using the same ticket. You do not lose your money. However, that ticket is not available for any future scheduled market held on the first or third Sunday of the month. Please continue to buy your ticket in advance from one market to the next or you may not get in. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg hosted a morning tea for all past and present committee members to thank them for their service to the community over the last 25 years Our Birthday market was a brilliant success. A Special Event. The Original Open Market Inc. has a page in the South Australian Tourist Commission Web Site. We have been fighting to have our site included in the Fleurieu Peninsular area, to which we belong, but the powers that be, think they know better. You should be able to access the site by the link we have set up, but if you cannot, please let us know. It shows a couple of very good photographs featuring our market. The old link has proved quite elusive for those wishing to view the market page, so here is another link. We hope you find it easier to use. It you are interested have a look at http://www.southaustralia.com/9000670.aspx To return to this site after viewing the above link, press your browser's back button. Please let me know if you cannot bring it up. A Very Special time for the Market: Although donations now exceed $139,743, one very special event took place in 1995 when we reached the grand total of $30,000! The Mayor of the City of Noarlunga (now the City of Onkaparinga), his wife Edith and our very busy Councillor and current Patron Artie Ferguson, presented the market with a Certificate of Merit for its donations to local Charities and Organizations.
